Halloween is just around the corner, and to celebrate, Disney is sending Hocus Pocus back to movie theaters for one-night only! Fans of the 1993 classic can catch the Sanderson sisters on big screens nationwide October 18th.

Hocus Pocus follows the story of the three Sanderson sisters — Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Mary (Kathy Najimy). The town of Salem, Massachusetts decides to execute the sisters for their witchcraft, but not before they invoke a curse that could bring them back to life. 300 years later, teenager Max Dennison (Omri Katz) lights the Black Flame Candle and accidentally brings the spooky trio back to life. Together with his little sister Dani (Thora Birch), school crush Allison (Vinessa Shaw), as well as Binx the cat (Jason Marsden) and zombie Billy Butcherson (Doug Jones), Max must stop the Sanderson sisters from draining the life force of Salem's children before the sun rises.

The film, directed by Kenny Ortega, wasn’t a critical or commercial success when it initially hit theaters on July 16, 1993. Since it’s release Hocus Pocus has become a cult classic and favorite during Halloween season, thanks to annual airings on Freeform and the Disney Channel throughout October. It’s cult status eventually led to Disney greenlighting a sequel, Hocus Pocus 2 with Midler, Parker, and Najimy reprising their starring roles.

The sequel was released on Disney+ in September 2022, where it became the #1 film to premiere on the streamer domestically to date. The premise of the new story follows yet another teenager who lights a Black Flame Candle and accidentally brings the witches back to life .

Hocus Pocus will return to theaters in the United States on October 18. You can stream it now on Disney+. Stay tuned to Fashion and Fandom for more updates on when tickets go on sale!
