Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a visual feast for viewers, thanks in part to the incredible costumes by Oscar-winniner designer, Ruth E. Carter. Carter is nominated for an Academy Award again this year for her work on the highly-anticipated Black Panther sequel, directed once again by Ryan Coogler. The film takes fans on an emotional journey as Wakanda grieves the loss of T’Challa/Black Panther (the late Chadwick Boseman) while preparing to confront a new enemy: Namor and his underwater kingdom Talokan

To celebrate Carter’s Oscar nomination, Marvel Studios released a new video on its YouTube Channel featuring a behind-the-scenes look at how the Wakanda Forever costumes were brought to life. Carter and her team created more than 2,000 costumes for the film. The video, which features interviews with Carter, Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett, Coogler, and Lupita Nyong'o, looks at how Carter used historical African and Mexican designs as inspiration behind the costumes for the Wakandans and Talokanil. Keep going for the video!

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is nominated for five Oscars this year including: Best Costume Design, Best Supporting Actress for Angela Bassett, Best Visual Effects, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Original Song.
