"Love Actually" Is Heading Back To Theaters For 20th Anniversary Screenings

Love Actually has become a romantic comedy classic since it was first released in 2003, and for many (like myself) it remains a “must-watch” each year during the holidays. Written and directed by Richard Curtis, the film is set in London during Christmastime, and now the beloved rom-com is heading back to theaters worldwide with a 4K restoration for it’s 20th anniversary.
According to Variety, Universal Pictures and Studiocanal have remastered the film in 4K for screenings in select U.S. and international cities in November and December. The newly restored print will also be available on Blu-ray and digital video on demand starting November 21.
While no specific theatrical release date has been set for Love Actually's re-release, the film is expected to hit UK, German, and Netherlands theaters in late November followed by a release in the US, Canada, and other territories including China in December.
The theatrical release will include a 10-minute introductory video, while the home version features a 30-minute featurette of the cast and crew sharing their memories of its production. The ensemble features members of the Love Actually cast, including Liam Neeson, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Bill Nighy, Keira Knightley, Billy Bob Thornton, Laura Linney, Emma Thompson, and the late Alan Rickman, among others.
“I'm really excited about this new version of the film; it's never looked or sounded better,” Curtis said in a press release. “And, although I'm slightly shocked by how old I've got, I loved the featurette, which is full of new thoughts and memories about the film from all the people who made it.”
