TCM Remembers Angela Landbury With A 24-Hour Movie Marathon In November

It’s been almost a week since the world lost iconic actress, Angela Lansbury just short of her 97th birthday. During her legendary career Lansbury starred in a wide range of award-winning film, stage, and television productions, earning the love of generations around the globe, along with dozens of accolades along the way (including Tonys, Golden Globes, Grammys and an Honorary Oscar).

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is honoring the late actress in November with 24-hours of programming celebrating Lansbury’s nearly eight decade career. The schedule is packed with must-see performances, including Lansbury’s breakout role in Gaslight, her tour-de-force performance in The Manchurian Candidate, along with other classic films like National Velvet, The Three Musketeers, The Harvey Girls, and a filmed version of the Tony-winning stage musical, Sweeney Todd.

The schedule doesn’t include some of Lansbury’s more famous later works like Death on the Nile and Bednobs and Broomsticks (which you can find on Disney+).

  • 8:00 PM — The Manchurian Candidate (1962) – A Korean War hero doesn't realize he's been programmed to kill by the enemy.

  • 12:15 AM — The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945) – A man remains young and handsome while his portrait shows the ravages of age and sin.

  • 2:15 AM — Kind Lady (1951) – A con artist and his criminal cohorts hold an old lady hostage in her own home.

  • 3:45 AM — Sweeney Todd (1982) – The adventures of a mad barber with a penchant for cutting his customers' throats, and his companion, a pastry chef who uses the victims' remains as filler for meat pies.
