Heroes And Villains: The Art Of The Disney Costume Heading To Seattle's Museum Of Pop Culture
One of the highlights for fashion fans at the 2019’s D23 was the Walt Disney Archives Heroes and Villains Costume exhibit, featuring more than 70 original pieces from some of your favorite Disney films. If you missed the exhibit the first time around now’s your chance to see it in person. It’s heading to the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle in June!
The exhibit “explores the vision, process, and craft used to create the costumes worn by some of the biggest names in entertainment. Heroes and Villains features costumes from some of Disney’s kindest heroes and toughest villains, as well as insights from designers, photographs, interactives, and a special film.”
The exhibit, includes costumes from some of Hollywood’s preeminent designers, past and present, including Academy Award winners Colleen Atwood, Sandy Powell, and Tony Walton, as well as Emmy winner Ellen Mirojnick and Emmy nominees Eduardo Castro and Penny Rose.
You’ll be able to see “Cinderella’s Workshop,” a gallery featuring the beloved fairy-tale character’s dresses from her numerous Disney incarnations, including 1997’s Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella; 2014’s Into the Woods; the 2015 live-action reimagining of the animated masterpiece Cinderella; and the ABC hit series Once Upon a Time. The exhibit also includes two iconic Mary Poppins “traveling dresses”: one from the 1964 original film and the other from 2019’s Mary Poppins Returns. and many, many more iconic costumes from the archives.
