JOKER Live Concert World Tour Kicks Off In London This Spring

Hildur Guđnadóttir’s haunting for Joker is one of my favorite things about the movie. I’m not alone. The Icelandic composer’s haunting score for the film earned her a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and an Oscar during awards season. If you enjoyed the music too you’re in luck — the Todd Philips film is heading back to theaters as part of a special touring event in which the award-winning score will be performed live

If you enjoyed the music as well you’re in luck — the music is about to head out on tour as part of a special touring event with an orchestra playing the award-winning score live. The first performance kicks off April 30th in London at the Event Apollo with Jeff Atmajian, who served as conductor and orchestrator of the movie’s original soundtrack conducting. According to Deadline the concert will tour the U.K. until July with Dave Mahoney of Senbla conducting before moving on to “expand to European and further international locations, with dates and venues to be announced.”

“I’m thrilled to get to see and hear Joker in the cinema with a live orchestra,”  Guðnadóttir said. “When we recorded the music, the orchestra brought such depth and detailed attention to the performances that we were all literally holding our breaths during most of the recording sessions. It was a beautiful trip. I’m so happy to get to go there again and for an audience to experience that too.”

I’ve been able to catch a few screenings of some of my favorite genre films over the years with live orchestras performing the score. It really is a unique experience, so I hope this tour makes it’s way to our side of the pond in the U.S. Have you seen any live orchestra film screenings? Sound off in the comments below!
