Dust Off Your Pearls. A Teaser Trailer For 'The Crown' Season 3 Is Here

Netflix has dropped a new teaser clip from the upcoming third season of The Crown. The 30-second clip gives fans a look at one of Olivia Coleman’s scenes as Queen Elizabeth II, while also paying tribute to Claire Foy's portrayal (who played the young Queen Elizabeth in the first two seasons of the Netflix drama).

In the scene, the queen chooses a new royal portrait to follow the one she posed for as a young monarch showing her transition from young woman to — as the Queen quips — “old bat”.

The Emmy-winning series, much like is leading royal, is in a period of transition. Its lead roles have been completely been recast to show the passage of time, with Tobias Menzies taking over the role of Prince Philip from Matt Smith, and Helena Bonham Carter taking over the role of Princess Margaret from Vanessa Kirby, just to name a few.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Crown Season 3:

The third season of The Crown sees a new guard sweep into Downing Street, as Queen Elizabeth (Olivia Colman) and her family struggle to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing Britain. From cold-war paranoia, through to the jet-set and the space age – the exuberance of the 1960s and the long hangover of the 1970s – Elizabeth and the Royals must adapt to a new, more liberated, but also more turbulent world. Written by Peter Morgan, The Crownalso stars Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Tobias Menzies as The Duke of Edinburgh, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, Ben Daniels as Lord Snowdon, Jason Watkins as Prime Minister Harold Wilson and Charles Dance as Lord Mountbatten.

Claire Foy was wonderful during her time on the series, but I love Olivia Coleman. She’s one of the best actresses working today so I’m excited to see what she does with this character. Are you excited about Olivia Coleman and the new cast? Sound off in the comments below!

Season 3 of The Crown premieres on Netflix November 17th.
