Celebrate 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture's' 40th Anniversary With New Collectibles and Tees
Star Trek: The Motion Picture is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary this year. Creator, Gene Roddenberry wanted to put Captain Kirk and the rest of the Enterprise crew on the big screen when the original series was still airing. But it wasn’t until the success of Star Wars in 1977 that Paramount Studio executives decided to redevelop a Star Trek film.
While it wasn’t a big hit with critics, which is fair considering the film’s slow pace — not to mention the crew’s infamous pastel pantsuits). But the film’s commercial success was enough to launch five more sequels with the original cast, paving the way for Star Trek to become the cultural phenomenon we know today.
The official Star Trek Shop is commemorating this landmark film with a new collection of collectibles, prints, and tees for men and women. Keep going for a closer look, and live long, and prosper!
