'The Matrix' Is Returning To Theaters For One Week Only For 20th Anniversary Screenings
Some great movies are celebrating milestone anniversaries this year, including one of my all time favorites — The Matrix which hit theaters 20 years ago. That is hard for me to believe, since I remember very clearly seeing it for the first time in theaters, and there’s not a week since that I haven’t quoted some of it’s lines.
The innovative special effects and storytelling techniques of The Matrix have inspired countless films since it’s initial theatrical release in 1999, and to celebrate Warner Bros. and AMC Theaters are bringing it back to theaters for one week only at the end of August in the Dolby Cinema format, which includes Dolby Vision picture and Dolby Atmos sound.
If you’re a fan of the movie and remember seeing it in the theaters 20 years ago you’ll be able to experience it in a way you’ve never experienced it before. And if you’ve never seen the movie on the big screen before you’re in for a treat!
In a statement, Jeff Goldstein, President, Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures said:
“Warner Bros. is proud to re-release the groundbreaking motion picture The Matrix, for the first time in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Dolby Cinema offers moviegoers an unparalleled sense of realism in how they experience this game-changing film, making it a must-see event, whether for the first time or a return to The Matrix.”
The film will screen in 135 AMC Theaters around the U.S. from August 30th through September 5th. To find out if it will be playing at a theater near you head over to AMCtheaters.com. Tickets are onsite now.
