First 'Ghostbusters' Fan Event Heading To Southern California This Summer

Image | Columbia

Big news, Ghostbuster’s fans! Sony Pictures is teaming up with Wizard World and Ghost Corps to host the first ever Ghostbusters Fan Festival this summer.

The event will take place on the Sony Pictures Studio Lot in Culver City, California June 7 and 8, just in time to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the 1984 film, as well as the 30th anniversary of the 1989 sequel. Fans will get a chance to “meet members of the Ghostbusters cast, filmmakers and crew, and hear about the behind the scenes stories,” as well as “get access to exclusive programming and attractions, limited edition merchandise, collectibles,” and more.

So far original cast members Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and William Atherton, director Ivan Reitman, and Ghostbusters theme-song composer/singer, Ray Parker Jr. are all confirmed to appear. In addition, Maurice LaMarche, Frank Welker, and Dave Coulier, who voiced Egon, Stantz, and Venkman on The Real Ghostbusters cartoon (1986-1991), will also be there with more guest expected to be announced as the show approaches.

Tickets are already on sale at https://tixr.com/pr/gbffpr/12066 and they aren’t cheap. Packages range in price from $499 to $1499 (and a $99 youth package), with autographs and photo ops included in some packages.

We wouldn't bet against Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, and Jason Reitman, who is directing the new Ghostbusters 3 (scheduled to hit theaters in 2020), making appearances. With ticket packages priced so high there will probably need to be some big surprises for fans.
