Columbia Has Recreated 'Empire Strikes Back' Production Crew Parkas!

Columbia Sportswear has offered Star Wars jackets in the past with outerwear inspired by The Empire Strikes Back and Rogue One. If you missed your chance to get your hands on something from their prior collections you’re in luck. The company is introducing another Empire Strikes Back coat just in time for those holiday wish lists.

The Star Wars Empire Crew Parka is a replica of the jacket George Lucas and his team wore when they were shooting on the Hardangerjokulen Glacier in Norway back in 1979. The glacier served as the location for the ice planet of Hoth. Columbia went to great lengths to re-create the look and design of the original parka. From the website:

The Star Wars Empire™ Crew Parka offers a vintage look combined with modern performance. The waterproof-breathable and critically seam-sealed shell acts like the Echo Base shield generator to protect against the elements, while Omni-Heat™ thermal-reflective lining and 200g insulation will keep you as warm as a Wookiee. Features of the jacket include a removable, adjustable hood with removable faux fur trim, two-way collar, ribbed comfort cuffs, wrist zips, and multifunctional pockets.

The limited-edition Star Wars Empire Crew Parka is unisex, and almost identical to the ones worn by the crew during shooting, right down to the patches.

The jackets are priced at $500 and will go on sale on the company’s website at 12:01 a.m. EST December 7th and at a handful of Columbia stores across the U.S., Canada, Europe, China, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea that same day. If you’re a Star Wars fan and you’re looking to add this parka to your collection you better be prepared to act fast. The jackets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of one per customer and it’s expected to sell out fast!

Additionally, four Columbia stores (Seattle, New York, Portland, Oregon; and Disney Springs, Florida) will also be selling versions the Crew Parka that have been signed by Mark Hamill. The autographed jackets are available at a price of $1,980 with all proceeds being donated to charity.
